 What words or phrases best describe the work you've selected to exhibit? "Scenes that linger." Describe a method or technique that's integral to your artistic practice. "In my large paintings, I use sketches as well as photographs to select shapes and patterns, created by light, to do a detailed drawing. I paint on a flat surface. For example, Azalea #2 began with watercolor washes brushed on damp paper. When dry, I paint section by section, using wet-in-wet and dry techniques until the watercolor is complete. Highlights and accents are added last." How do you cultivate creativity in your own life? "As a child, I drew and painted a lot. Later, I dreamt of becoming an artist. Teachers and mentors, seeing art in museums, learning about famous artists-all of these shaped my consciousness and my abilities. My primary sources of inspiration were and are gardens, parks, arboretums, and my surroundings. I respond as well to subjects where light creates fleeti

Yester House Solo Shows 2024

 May 30th - July14, 2024 Each year, the Southern Vermont Arts Center welcomes a variety of artists to present solo exhibitions in Yester House, a 1917 estate-turned-gallery that can accommodate 10 exhibiting artists. Vermont Crafts Council Open Studio 2024

 Vermont Crafts Council Open Studio May 25th and 26th 2024. Artists open their work spaces to share their tools, equipment and inspirations. Whether in small towns or at the ends of back roads, studios are interesting places to visit because they reflect the dynamic yet organized process used to design and produce a finished work of art. Open Studio 2023 Small galleries, and art centers that take part in this event, show a unique collection of hand made and local artwork, including special events and exhibits. Vermont Open Studio 2023 Founded in 1990, the Vermont Crafts Council represents a community of over 260 visual artists, arts organizations, galleries, and art education facilities. Through business development programming, marketing opportunities, and open studio events, the Vermont Crafts Council offers ways for visual artists to both maintain and grow their creative businesses.
